Alexandria Women for Good Deliver Baskets of Love

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Sometimes a roll of paper towels makes all the difference. On Thursday, March 26, Alexandria Women for Good (AWFG) delivered laundry baskets filled with paper towel, bedding, laundry soap, and other essentials for Friends of Guest House residents entering their aftercare program.

Women entering the aftercare program, all formerly incarcerated, have completed the Friends of Guest House six-month residential program and are moving toward their next step of reintegrating into the community. Many of these women do not have basic household items, and Alexandria Women for Good stepped in to help make the transition a little easier and more comfortable.

“What made the visit especially meaningful was the chance to spend time together, share conversation, and offer encouragement as these women focus on their next chapter,” noted Laura Turner, AWFG co-founder. “Several women were interested in learning more about Alexandria Women for Good and our volunteer opportunities, which was a great reminder that community, connection, and support can make a real difference during times of transition.”…
