BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The Greater Birmingham Humane Society is worried a proposed data center could hurt the animals it shelters.
The Birmingham Zoning Board held a packed meeting on Thursday concerning a proposed AI factory by Netherlands-based company Nebius. The facility would be built along Lakeshore Parkway, near where the Humane Society is constructing a new campus.
Noise concerns
Concerns about the possible data center include property value and environmental issues, but for the Humane Society, it’s the noise.
“There are a lot of studies that show a continuous hum at certain decibels is extremely stressful for dogs, and it can cause them to have reactions.
