Syracuse, N.Y. — You don’t have to go deep into Ryan Moesch’s scouting report to understand why Gerry McNamara wanted him at Siena. And why the coach now wants him at Syracuse, too.
Moesch, a former star at Chittenango High School, is a point guard who led his prep school team to a postseason championship and thrives in big moments, a winner who sacrifices personal statistics for the good of his team and an undersized player who lacks the measurables of most big-time recruits.
“He’s got a little Gerry to him,” said James Cormier, who has coached Moesch the past two seasons at Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Massachusetts. “He’s 6 feet tall and 170 pounds and long, floppy hair. He doesn’t necessarily look the part. … (But) whoever you put in front of him he’s better than.”…
