Amarillo to remove colorful crosswalks under TxDOT directive

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo will begin removing and replacing several decorative and non-compliant crosswalk and pavement markings as part of a statewide directive from the Texas Department of Transportation aimed at bringing roadway markings in line with state and federal standards.

The City of Amarillo is complying with a TxDOT directive requiring the removal of crosswalk and pavement markings that do not meet standards outlined in the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
