West Dallas Chaos As Cops Trade Gunfire, Nab Two Suspects

An early morning assist call in west Dallas turned chaotic on Sunday, March 22, ending with officers exchanging gunfire and two people in handcuffs, according to Dallas police.

Officers were dispatched around 2:10 a.m. to the 2700 block of W. Jefferson Boulevard. The department said officers fired their weapons after coming under gunfire during the incident. Police also reported that shots were fired at or near officers from a nearby vehicle. The suspects left the scene but were later arrested, and police said no one was injured.

Police to show body-camera footage Friday

According to WFAA, the Dallas Police Department plans to show body-worn camera footage from the encounter at a 3:30 p.m. briefing today. The station reports that officers discharged their weapons during the incident and that police later arrested suspects in connection with the shooting. Officials had not immediately identified those taken into custody. Police said the briefing will include video and an on-the-record update for the public.
