ROCKFORD — A charitable foundation tied to the family that owns Field fastener supply company has granted $25,000 to the YMCA of Rock River Valley to help it expand literacy programs for youth across the region.
The Derry Family Foundation presented the ceremonial check on Friday at the Good Shepherd YMCA on North Rockton Avenue.
The funds will support the addition of a sixth literacy instructor, allowing the Y to teach an additional 60 youth each week at its Kids’ Time Before and After School program.
