Forestry officials are asking you not to burn after Bankhead fire

LAWRENCE CO., Ala. (WAFF) – Alabama Forestry officials are warning against burning because of what they’re calling “apocalyptic” conditions for forest fires.

Firefighters remained on the scene Friday of a several-hundred acre forest fire in Bankhead National Forest. Roughly 300 acres of land burned in the forest Thursday night.

Crews from the Alabama Forestry Commission were called out to help contain the fire. Firefighters used bulldozers to control it. After a combined effort, crews had the fire contained to about 90 acres as of Friday afternoon…
