Annual Waccamaw Expo returns to Conway with DockDogs competition

The 5th annual Waccamaw Expo kicked off this Friday. This two-day event is centered around Laurel Street in the heart of Conway.

The main event of the Waccamaw Expo is the DockDogs competitions. DockDogs is a fast-growing canine sport where dogs can compete in three categories. These include “Big Air” which is a long jump, “Extreme Vertical” which is a high jump, and “Speed Retrieve” which is a timed event.

Teams competing in all three categories can be listed as “Iron Dog” teams. All teams can compete for the opportunity for national recognition.

Friday was filled with excitement and cheers as the high-flying “Big Air” competition took place in three rounds. Set up on the Town Green of Conway, dogs took turns jumping into a pool that was lined with measurements. Several rounds gave teams multiple chances to jump the farthest out.
