To the editor: Sewer disaster reveals aging infrastructure

Arlington Avenue has already been shut down since 2024, and now we’re being told it will remain closed through 2028. That’s four years of disruption in a residential neighborhood.

This is what happens when infrastructure is ignored for too long and then finally fails all at once. They’re not just fixing a section of road. They’re replacing sewer lines all the way to Detroit Avenue and then rebuilding the roadway. That tells you everything. This is a system issue, not a small repair.

As a South Toledo resident living on Woodsdale Avenue, just five houses from the Arlington intersection, I am experiencing these impacts firsthand alongside my neighbors…
