Big-Rig Retailer Rolls Into Somers With $3.3 Million I-94 Land Grab

Truck Country of Wisconsin is gearing up to plant a major flag along I-94 in Kenosha County, taking a key step toward a new Freightliner truck dealership on roughly 49 acres just west of the freeway. The proposed development would bring heavy-truck sales, parts distribution and service bays to the Village of Somers growth area near the Town of Paris. Local officials still need to sign off on rezoning and a conditional-use permit before any shovels hit the dirt.

As reported by the Milwaukee Business Journal, the land deal tied to the site clocks in at about $3.3 million and moves forward Truck Country of Wisconsin’s push for an I-94-adjacent location. The Business Journal identified Truck Country, a regional Freightliner retailer, as the buyer in the transaction.

Municipal documents identify the parcel at 1914 120th Ave, listed as Tax Parcel 45-4-221-241-0102, in the Village of Somers growth area. It is currently zoned agricultural. According to the Town of Paris intergovernmental commission agenda, the Frederick Family Revocable Trust is the listed owner, and Truck Country is the applicant seeking rezoning and a conditional-use permit to operate a heavy-truck dealership on the nearly 49-acre site.

What Truck Country Wants To Build

The plan on the table calls for a Freightliner franchise that would bundle new-truck sales, a parts distribution operation and on-site service bays, according to planning materials. Truck Country already appears in Freightliner’s dealer listings, which show multiple Truck Country locations across Wisconsin and the broader region. Freightliner’s dealer directory outlines the company’s current footprints.

Company Expansion In Southeast Wisconsin

The Somers proposal lines up with a broader Truck Country expansion in southeast Wisconsin. In December 2024, the dealer group purchased a 15.85-acre Germantown site for a planned truck sales and service facility, a deal reported by Urban Milwaukee. That project, together with Truck Country’s existing locations in Oak Creek and Sheboygan, points to a strategy of boosting service capacity along major highway corridors.

Timeline And Local Review

Before any construction can begin, the parcel must be transferred to the Village of Somers under existing intergovernmental terms. Portions of the land would then need to be rezoned from A-1 agricultural to B-3 highway business and C-1 conservancy districts before officials can act on the conditional-use permit. The intergovernmental commission scheduled a presentation and public comment period as part of its January 6, 2026 meeting, according to town planning documents…
