GRETNA, La. (WGNO) — A woman is facing a murder charge after the body of a newborn was found in Gretna.
At 3:17 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, the Gretna Police Department and EMS were called to a Waffle House on the Westbank Expressway, in reference to a woman who told officers she had reportedly just given birth.
According to police, Lekesha Lemelle, 37, told officers that it happened in a nearby porta-potty but did not provide how long ago she gave birth or the condition of the newborn. Police said they found the porta-potty, and inside was the infant’s lifeless body in the toilet…
