FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) -Illinois State Police took time Saturday to remember Trooper Brooke Jones-Story, who was killed in the line of duty five years ago during a traffic stop in Stephenson County.
Police said Jones-Story was struck on March 28, 2019, while conducting a commercial vehicle inspection on U.S. Route 20 near Illinois Route 75 in Freeport. Investigators said she had stopped a truck tractor-semi and was performing an inspection when another tractor-semi left the roadway and hit her patrol car.
