Officers to focus on drug-impaired driving, including pot and ‘poly-drug use’ in Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. — Don’t even think of driving under the influence — that is the message from Tacoma Police as they start a crackdown on people behind the wheel after drinking or using drugs.

The extra officers looking for dangerous drivers are being paid for with $215,000 from a High-Visibility Saturation Patrols grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.

KOMO News is told the proactive DUI enforcement will be going on seven days a week, with an emphasis on what are called “high-risk timeframes”. Those are evenings, weekends, and late-night hours…
