Hoehn’s two-way contributions help propel Michigan to win over Purdue

Two stale innings left the scoreboard empty and it was a defensive back and forth showing. But with the familiar tune chosen by the Michigan softball team’s leadoff batter echoing from the speakers, the tune of the game changed too, and the Wolverines began their offensive campaign.

“We knew that Purdue was going to be a pesky team,” Michigan coach Bonnie Tholl said. “Our whole mantra mission this week was to expect it to be difficult, and we won’t be surprised by any punches they throw, by any momentum they get. We’re to expect it.”

Purdue was the first to break the score open, but Michigan responded in turn, with a double that brought senior second baseman Indiana Langford home. But the offensive zest really began when junior right-hander Erin Hoehn stepped up to the plate…
