City taxes are rising faster than school taxes: Explaining Cuyahoga County property tax bills

CLEVELAND, Ohio – While schools are often the focus of property tax reform discussions by state lawmakers and others, it’s the cities that usually benefit more directly from increasing property values.

This is largely because cities, unlike schools, can embed property taxes into law as part of their charters.
