PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Coroners have identified a woman found dead in a house fire.
On December 30, 2025, firefighters were called to a home on Red Hawk Road for a reported brush fire which had spread to a home. While fighting the fire, firefighters reportedly found a a woman dead inside the home.

On Saturday the Pickens County Coroner’s Office reported DNA testing identified the woman as 72-year-old Mary Jo Morgan.
No other details about Morgan’s death are available at this time. The Pickens County Coroner’s Office, the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, SLED and the State Fire Marshal’s Office were called to investigate the fire…
