Despite Strong Pitching Effort, #20/21 Vols Drop Series Opener in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The duo of Brandon Arvidson and Tegan Kuhns was impressive on the mound, but the bats were unable to cash in on No. 20/21 Tennessee’s productive pitching performances in a 3-2 extra-innings loss against Vanderbilt on a cold Friday night at Hawkins Field.

The Commodores (15-12, 3-4 SEC) outhit the Volunteers (18-8, 3-4 SEC), 10-5, for the night and walked it off in the bottom of the 10th inning with a two-out RBI single by Logan Johnstone.

UT had a chance to take the lead in the top of the 10th with runners on second and third with two outs, but Vandy reliever Brennan Seiber struck out Blake Grimmer to end the threat and set the stage for the Dores’ walk-off win…
