Dealership employee charged after taking customer’s car to bar

Police say a Mercedes-Benz of Collierville service technician has been charged after allegedly taking a customer’s car without permission. The customer had left her vehicle for repairs in January, but later noticed movement through her car’s tracking system. Officers found the vehicle at TJ Mulligan’s, a Memphis-area sports bar, and discovered the key fob on the employee, identified as Derrick Nguyen. According to the arrest affidavit, Nguyen appeared intoxicated and declined to answer questions without a lawyer. He was charged with theft of property valued between $10,000 and $60,000.
