LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) -After a very brief cooldown, the heat is already starting to build back across the South Plains.
Saturday’s high temperature in Lubbock reached 61 degrees and marks the third time this month we’ve had a high temperature below average. However, we have had many more above average days and likely break the warmest March on record.
Today will be much warmer compared to yesterday with highs in the 80s to lower 90s. Breezy winds and dry conditions during the afternoon will bring elevated fire danger.
Tonight, we don’t cool off much. Temperatures stay mild, falling into the 50s, with a light breeze continuing.
Monday the heat will intensify as highs climb into the low 90s, and the dryline sets up nearby.
This entire set up is being driven by a southwest flow pattern overhead. This brings in warm, dry air and keeps the atmosphere relatively stable…
