ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A big turnout as the community came to support the Animal Welfare Department for its first-ever bingo fundraiser. In a partnership with the nonprofit organization Kennel Kompadres, the Bow Wow Bingo competition was held at the Main Library.

Proceeds from every ticket and bingo card sold went towards supporting the Angel Fund, which specializes in providing life-saving medical care for animals in shelters. “So we started this fund so that we could send the pets out to specialty surgeons or specialty vets to help them to get healthy again,” said Carolyn Ortega, director of the Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department.
