BAT CAVE, N.C. (WSPA)—The NCDOT continues to make big strides as they work to repair bridge and roadway damage from Hurricane Helene. On Saturday, March 28, crews opened Highway 64 in Rutherford County, 18 months after the storm.
There’s no more U-turn in downtown Chimney Rock. Drivers are thrilled to take Highway 64 through Edneyville to Bat Cave, and some residents say they trim 50 minutes off their commute, and small businesses say it’s changed the game.
