Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred Thursday March 26, 2026 at 4:06 a.m. on Big Island Highway, near Rush Mountain Trail in Bedford County.
A 2006 Ford Ranger was traveling south on Big Island Highway, when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a large boulder.
The driver was identified as 74-year-old Geraldine Irene McLeod of Big Island, VA. McLeod was not wearing her seatbelt and died at the scene…
