About 13,000 in San Diego to lose CalFresh benefits under new law, food bank says

About 13,000 people in San Diego County are expected to lose CalFresh food benefits in the coming days due to changes in federal law, according to the San Diego Food Bank, a shift that could impact families, local businesses and food banks across the region.

The changes, which take effect April 1, limit eligibility for certain groups of non-citizens, including asylees, refugees, parolees and people with deportation or removals withheld. County officials say they have been preparing for months.
