Bond set at $2 million for second suspect in Highway 73 murder case

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Bond has been set at $2 million for Demarcus Dewayne Elam, 28, of Humble, one of two men charged with murder in the death of a woman whose vehicle was found shot up and wrecked along Texas Highway 73 in South Jefferson County.

Elam and Javeon Javon Blount are both in custody on murder charges following the death of Shameka Miller, 37, of Arlington, Texas, whose body was discovered Saturday morning after a wreck along Texas Highway 73, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Blount is being held on a $1.5 million bond.
