Five days and counting: Denver drivers still can’t retrieve cars after parking garage collapse

DENVER — Five days after a Denver parking garage at Yosemite Street and Jefferson Avenue collapsed, vehicle owners still can’t retrieve their cars, and some say the ongoing closure is affecting more than just their daily commute.

Joy Braud Sims, a human resources manager at a local nonprofit, said she was told by the fire department shortly after the collapse that the wait would be brief.

“When it happened, the fire department was like, ‘Just wait a couple of hours, you’ll be able to get your car,” Braud Sims said…
