Buncombe County seeks public input on rebuilding Owen Park after Helene

SWANNANOA, N.C. (WLOS) — Buncombe County residents will have a chance to help shape what comes next for Charles D. Owen Park during a community workshop on Monday, March 30.

Buncombe County Parks & Recreation invites the public to share ideas for the Swannanoa park during an initial community meeting co-sponsored by the Swannanoa Grassroots Alliance. The meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday in the Owen Middle School gym.

Hurricane Helene devastated Owen Park in September 2024, leaving extensive damage to its landscape, infrastructure, fields, equipment and more. More than a year and a half later, the park has remained closed due to this damage…
