Little Ferry installs SafetyStick parking enforcers. How they work

Little Ferry has become the latest North Jersey town to announce the installation of SafetyStick, a parking enforcement device used to monitor and deter illegal parking.

“We have seen an increase in motor vehicle crashes due to illegally parked vehicles along with numerous parking complaints,” the Little Ferry Police Department said in a post on Facebook on March 23, announcing that the devices will be placed in areas that have proved to be hazardous, such as crosswalks and intersections.

In total, there will be about 15 devices scattered around Little Ferry, Police Chief James Walters said. Nine officers will be trained to issue summonses to those caught parking illegally by the devices…
