A 19-year-old woman was struck and killed by a garbage truck in Queens while walking home from work late Sunday night, according to police and her family members.
The young woman, identified by police as Nishath Jannath, was crossing 62nd Street at Roosevelt Avenue in Woodside when a sanitation truck operated by Royal Waste Services hit her in the crosswalk around 11:55 p.m.
The truck was traveling west on Roosevelt Avenue and made a right-hand turn onto the northbound lane of 62nd Street when it hit her on the north side of the intersection, cops said.
