Jury finds Cleveland detective guilty of charges related to unlawful detaining of truck driver at Medina County bar

MEDINA, Ohio β€” Donald Kopchak, a Cleveland police detective and former deputized federal agent, was found guilty on all charges related to illegally detaining a truck driver at a Hinckley bar by a Medina County jury on Monday.

Kopchak, 41, was found guilty on two counts of felony abduction, one count of ethnic intimidation, and one misdemeanor assault charge. He will be sentenced by Medina County Common Pleas Court Judge Joyce Kimbler on June 11.

Meanwhile, Kopchak’s co-defendant in the case, 48-year-old Daniel Lajack, is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday after he pleaded guilty to one count of attempted abduction earlier this month…
