Gates Ambulance assistant chief says attacks on EMTs are common as two AMR medics recover from weekend assault

GATES, N.Y. — A man is charged after police say he attacked two EMTs Saturday in the back of an ambulance, seriously injuring at least one of them.

House of Mercy called for an ambulance after one of its residents ended up on the ground. EMTs showed up to help but ended up having to call for help themselves after police say the patient attacked them unprovoked.

Police say the attack sent both EMTs to the hospital. Gates Ambulance Assistant Chief Daniel DiSalvo said this kind of attack is common…
