After 34 years with Savannah Police, Torrance Garvin named new chief at Savannah State

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Savannah State University has named longtime law enforcement leader Torrance Garvin as its new Chief of Police, effective April 1.

Garvin brings 34 years of experience with the Savannah Police Department. He most recently served as Captain of the Criminal Investigations Division, overseeing major investigations and enforcement operations.

During his career, Garvin held several leadership roles, including Precinct Commander, and positions within the Crime Suppression Unit, Recruiting Unit, Special Investigations Section, and the Violent Crimes Task Force…
