‘Drive, drive, drive!’ Getaway driver describes chaos after fatal Staten Island robbery attempt

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Whether it was the adrenaline, the cannabis or just poor planning, a Staten Island man charged with murder made a series of blunders surrounding a 2023 robbery attempt that ended in the shooting death of a beloved deli owner, according to testimony on Monday.

Hussein Adam, 25, of Pennsylvania, is facing first-degree murder and robbery charges in connection with the July 8, 2023, slaying at Manor Deli and Convenience in Castleton Corners. If found guilty, he faces the possibility of up to life in prison without parole.

Another man charged in the case, Timothy Convery, 26, also of Pennsylvania, was Adam’s best friend. Evidence showed both men holding what appeared to be firearms inside the deli, according to statements in court…
