SMITHVILLE, Mo. — A large fire closed a portion of US 169 Highway to traffic and destroyed multiple businesses, Monday afternoon.
Just before 2:20 p.m., first responders responded to a building fire in the Smithville Plaza on U.S. 169 Highway and Main Street.
The plaza houses multiple restaurants and shops including Pizza Shoppe, a restaurant who took to social media to announce they’d be closed Monday afternoon due to the fire.
The owner of the pizzeria, Nissa True, told FOX4 that just after their lunch rush ended one of her employees told her that the Chinese restaurant in the plaza was on fire. True said she and her employees, along with two customers, evacuated the restaurant but the building is a total loss…
