1864 — Action at Mount Elba / Longview. Confederate forces attacked Union troops at Mount Elba in Cleveland County on March 30, 1864, during the Camden Expedition. The same operation was tied to the Union strike at Longview in Ashley County, where a Confederate supply train was hit and about 260 Confederates were captured.
