Two contractors working for Albuquerque Public Schools Maintenance and Operations acted fast to stop a brush fire near Collet Park Elementary School. On March 30, 2026, Pascual Alcantar and Todd Toya from Sunstate Mechanical were repairing the school’s HVAC system when they saw flames starting across the street at a nearby home. They grabbed fire extinguishers from the school and worked together to put out the fire before it spread. Their quick response helped protect the home and kept the neighborhood safe.
