Céline Dion Announces Return to the Stage with Paris Residency
International music icon Céline Dion has confirmed she will return to live performance this fall, staging a series of 10 concerts at the Paris La Défense Arena. This marks her first major headline shows since pausing her career in 2022 due to muscle spasms, later diagnosed as stiff-person syndrome (SPS), a rare autoimmune neurological disorder.
The announcement follows recent fan sightings of promotional posters around Paris featuring references to Dion’s classic hits such as “Power of Love” and “Pour Que tu M’aimes Encore,” sparking excitement about her comeback.
Turning 58 this week, Dion described the upcoming residency as “the best gift” of her life. “I’m so happy.
I’m so ready to do this. I’m feeling good.
I’m strong,” she said in a video message. “I’m feeling excited, obviously.
Of course, a little nervous, but most of all, I am grateful to all of you. I can’t wait to see you again.”
While Dion has made select appearances since 2020, including performing at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony and a fashion show in Saudi Arabia, she has not led her own tour since her Courage World Tour. She expressed deep appreciation for fans’ support throughout her health challenges, acknowledging their role in helping her persevere.
Dion’s residency will run from September 12 to October 14, with shows scheduled twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Frédéric Longuépée, president of La Défense Arena, hailed the engagement as a significant milestone for the venue since its 2017 opening.
Presale ticket registration is open until April 2, with general sales beginning April 10.
In her 2024 documentary “I Am: Celine Dion,” the singer revealed the impact of SPS on her voice and performance ability, noting symptoms had affected her for nearly two decades before diagnosis. Despite the condition’s incurability, Dion’s determination remains unwavering.
“If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl, but I won’t stop,” she affirmed.
Céline Dion’s return is eagerly anticipated by fans worldwide, signaling a hopeful new chapter in her enduring career.
