‘It’s a milestone’: Charleston County holds ceremony for Edisto Island EMS facility

EDISTO ISLAND, S.C. (WCSC) — After a long-anticipated wait, dozens of residents and community leaders gathered to unveil the new Charleston County EMS station on Edisto Island.

Named the Anna B. Johnson Building after a longtime public servant who pushed for the space, the more than 5,000 square foot facility will be a new home for emergency medical service officials on the island and will also help boost public safety in an area far from other county services.

“We’ve always had a presence out in Edisto, but to be in a new building and have the opportunity to honor Mrs. Johnson and that’s just really an opportunity for everybody to have a big celebration,” Chris Way, Charleston County EMS Chief, said…
