PennDOT proposes $600 million improvement project along Interstate 81 near Carlisle

CARLISLE, Pa. — PennDOT is eyeing a new $600 million dollar project to renovate nearly 10 miles of Interstate 81 near Carlisle.

The project is part of a plan to make targeted improvements for traffic and safety along certain stretches of I-81.

Andrew Bomberger, the executive director with the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission, said the proposal would extend on- and off-ramps and create new auxiliary lanes between Exit 44 and 52.
