Service employee arrested on main campus after verbal dispute

A service employee at UCF was arrested on charges of assault and burglary of conveyance with assault/battery after engaging in a verbal dispute with an employee’s husband Wednesday, according to the UCF Police Department.

Police responded to a 911 call from parking lot H4, near the Visual Arts building on Aquarius Agora Drive, around 3:42 p.m. Michael Rees, whose exact service role was not specified, was charged after initiating a dispute with the victim, Jason Tollefson, who stated in a sworn statement that the altercation occurred over a service vehicle parking spot.

According to the arrest affidavit, Tollefson briefly stopped in front of the parking spot to let his daughter drop off food for her mother, Professor Kristina Tollefson, who teaches in the Performing Arts building, and then moved his vehicle to allow Rees to park. After parking, Rees waved his parking pass at Tollefson, yelling, “I paid $500 for this,” before opening Tollefson’s passenger door, leaning into the car and threatening to punch Tollefson in the face, the arrest affidavit stated…
