“They barely got the car out of the drive,” said neighbor and friend Daniel Gerhard. “It happened so fast.”
Dan and Cindy Shaw had been working in the yard on Sunday.
“About 11 o’clock, we went inside to start fixing lunch. About 11:30, a gentleman stopped by and told me my house was on fire,” said Dan Shaw.
Shaw and his daughter, Cindy, only had time to get out. “I ran out this way, and Daddy went out that way, and I called 911,” said Cindy.
“The first thing I knew was when Cindy came up banging on the door and telling us their house was afire,” remembered Gerhard. “By the time I got here, several neighbors were here. They got the dog, got the car out, people were already trying to help Dan and everything.”…
