Drivers beware: Select Pennsylvania roads closing to protect migrating amphibians

A half-mile stretch of road through the Slate Belt in Northampton County will close for five weeks starting Tuesday, March 31, to allow frogs, toads and salamanders to safely cross to their breeding grounds.

Northampton County Parks, Recreation and Conservation will close the eastern portion of Institute Drive through the Totts Gap Conservation Area in partnership with Upper Mount Bethel Township. The closure runs from Totts Gap Road west for approximately one-half mile and remains in effect through May 1.
