MADISON, Wis. — A fire near Portage Road and Hanson Road on Sunday was contained after approximately 10 acres of land were burning or had already burned, the Madison Fire Department said.
Multiple 911 callers reported seeing a large outside fire at around 3:32 p.m. Upon arrival, Engine 11 noticed heavy smoke as they approached the scene and found fire burning about 200 feet off the road.
