Man accused of firing shots at CPD officer on South Side facing felony charges

CHICAGO — A Chicago man is facing a slew of felony charges after authorities say he fired shots at a Chicago police officer over the weekend on the city’s South Side.

Chicago police say 24-year-old Menard Allison, a West Englewood resident, has been charged with several felonies, including attempted murder with the strong probability of death or injury, aggravated discharge of a firearm at a police officer, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance and violation of sex offender registration requirements.

The charges were handed down following an incident police say unfolded around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, in the 6400 block of South Green Street, in Englewood.
