Portland eyes monthly transportation utility fee; would add to growing taxes & charges

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Portland’s City Council is expected to weigh new fees to help fund Portland’s Bureau of Transportation (PBOT.)

According to the city, this will help fund the new “Transportation Utility Fee” (or TUF) by adding a monthly charge for both businesses and residents. The money raised would help pay for things like road repairs, sidewalks, and more PBOT maintenance projects.

If passed, this will be added to an already mounting number of taxes and fees Portlanders are already paying for. Considering the different charges locally and at the state level, coupled with recent rising prices at the gas pump, we took a look at the different costs of transportation…
