Former High School Tennis Coach Arrested for Inappropriate Relationship With Athlete

A former teacher at Sprague High School in Salem, Ore., and assistant coach of the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague tennis team was arrested earlier this month on two charges stemming from an inappropriate relationship with a student-athlete that spanned from August 2025 to March 2026.

As reported by the Columbia Basin Herald in Moses, Wash, Madeline Gregory Scoon, 29, has been charged with first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor, a class C felony with a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and/or a $10,000 fine, as well as communication with a minor for immoral purposes, which is a gross misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of 364 days imprisonment and/or a $5,000 fine.

A readiness hearing is set for May 26, with trial set to begin June 17. Gregory has entered a not guilty plea with the court, according to records cited by the Herald
