Kern County jury convicts man of murder in 2022 Steel Avenue shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A man was convicted on Monday, March 30, of first-degree murder in the death of 34-year-old Arthur Medina in east Bakersfield in 2022, announced the Kern County District Attorney.

Angelo Cabezuela was found guilty in the case that dates back to Jan. 18, 2022, when Cabezuela and two others were in a stopped Nissan Altima in the 2200 Block of Steele Avenue when the victim rode up to them on his bicycle and began to speak with a passenger in the vehicle.

When the other two passengers swapped seats, Cabezuela exited the front passenger seat of the Altima. Prosecutors said a few seconds later, Cabezuela then pulled out a revolver from his backpack and fired four to five shots at Medina, who was struck three times. Medina died at the scene…
