State officials launch program to educate new drivers on traffic stop safety

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – State officials are launching a new program to educate new drivers about the traffic stop process.

The North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program and Dedication to Community are partnering on an initiative to improve the overall experience for drivers and law enforcement during encounters.

A traffic stop can be a new driver’s first interaction with the law, and this program educates them on what to expect, so that encounters do not lead to fear, miscommunication, a lack of trust, and further escalation…
