An early-morning shooting just north of Uptown left one person seriously injured Tuesday, according to emergency responders, rattling a normally quiet stretch just as the city was waking up.
The gunfire was reported just before 5 a.m. near West Fifth Street and North Clarkson Street, close to an apartment complex, where first responders converged on the scene.
MEDIC crews found a victim at the location and took that person to a hospital with serious injuries, according to WCNC. The station reports that Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Police were contacted and that authorities had not yet identified the victim. Police also had not released any suspect information, WCNC noted.

The shooting site at West Fifth and North Clarkson sits near the northern edge of Uptown, in a cluster of apartment buildings and hotels.
