GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Alachua County crews have started construction on an northern extension of Parker Road, located in western Gainesville. The people living in a neighborhood right next to that extension say they had no clue it was coming.
“When we came back from work, it’s all being cleared,” said Thomas Garcia, a resident of the South Pointe community. He said he only found out about the extension once trees started being cut down. “Nobody took the time to let the community know this was going on.”
Garcia said many of his neighbors share his sentiment, unaware that almost all of the trees along Northwest 121st Street would be cut in order to create thru roads to the extension of Parker Road, also known as Northwest 122nd Street. Dirt is already being prepped for the construction…
