Dyer County pursuit ends in crash at ‘Dead Man’s Curve’; driver charged

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 27-year-old Dyersburg man sped away from a police stop, struck an officer’s vehicle, and was airlifted after crashing in a pursuit Tuesday, the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office said.

JaShawn Branch faces charges including felony evading arrest, reckless endangerment, driving on suspended, and aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer. Additional charges are possible.

The chase started when officers with the Newbern Police Department tried to initiate a traffic stop with Branch for speeding, the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office said.
